 Profile for Pearland Campus Lead Pastor

Purpose: Houston Chinese Church (HCC) is looking for a man of God to lead a satellite campus of HCC in Pearland, Texas, a community 15 miles south of Houston, Texas of approximately 70 adults and 20 youth and children. Under the oversight of HCC’s Lead Chinese Pastor and the Chinese Ministry Team, our vision is for this pastor to lead the existing Chinese and English congregations into a full-functioning independent church.

Relationship: During the initial period of the ministry, the person will serve as a member of the HCC ministerial team under the supervision of the Lead Chinese Pastor, with special assignment in Pearland. This individual will focus on the Pearland Campus and, if needed, will participate with various ministries at HCC.

Education: Master of Divinity degree or higher from a recognized accredited seminary

Experience: Minimum 3 or more years of pastoral ministry experience at a Chinese church in North America

Language: Mandarin and conversational English

Marital Status: Married preferred

6. Provides leadership, direction and training, especially in the context of fellowship and small group ministry
7. Develops and implements personal and ministry objectives
8. Delegates responsibilities to others and provides effective supervision
9. Has strong interpersonal relationship skills 
10. Provides counseling (personal growth, premarital and marital) and willing to acquire such skills through additional classes and training
11. Is able to minister to families and individuals at various stages of life 

Responsibilities:

1. Preaching / Teaching

●      Regularly preach at the Pearland Campus

●      Teach in Adult Sunday School, fellowship groups and other occasions

●      Design Sunday worship service

2. Leading

●      Facilitate the Campus Leadership Team (CLT)

●      Plan and strategize different aspects of the ministry

●      Provide vision and direction for Pearland Campus ministry into independence

●      Work with coworkers to set up a strategy to reach out to the Chinese community in Pearland and disciple believers

3. Training / Supervision

●      Train leaders to do the work of the ministry (discipleship)

●      Train members to grow spiritually on their own

●      Supervise ministry and office staff

4. Caring

●      Visitation of members

●      Provide counseling to church members as needs arise

●      Hospitality ministry

5. Administration

●      Work with CLT in recruiting individuals with different gifts and talents to serve in different ministries

●      Participates in HCC meetings and other duties as assigned until Pearland Campus is independent and such participation is no longer necessary
